This is the most counter-intuitive pump I have ever used. That being said, the major flaw is only that it does not come with good instructions. Actually the 3 step instructions are a joke. Once you know how to use it, you will find it reliable and pretty easy, albeit strange, to use.Here is the "theory" of this pump from my experiments in using it. There is a magical valve in the filler head that decides which way to send the air based on where there is back pressure. This is a design flaw because I doubt it will let you fill a completely empty tire without some luck and use of your mouth to generate backpressure to properly set the valve. Try the experiment yourself. Stick the tire filler section into your mouth and blow hard, you will feel a little valve give way. Then if you pump using the handle you will definitely feel the air pumping into your mouth. Now the pump is in "tire mode". To switch it to "ball mode" you should try 1... You need three hands and two feet to use it because the nozzle pops off the valve. Air escapes from the tires, so for every 3 pumps of air, 1 or 2 pumps leak out. And some of the air you're stuggling to pump into the tire leaks out from the other valve connectors. One hour and my tires are exactly where they were when I started.
